*Anaemia refers to reduced number of circulating RBCs, haemoglobin or both. It is not a specific disease, but rather the result of some other disease process or condition. However, it can lead to pale gums, lethargy, weight loss, loss of appetite, laboured breathing and faster heart rate. The causes include diseases that cause blood loss, haemolysis and decrease the production of RBCs through bone marrow suppression.
